As a nutrition coach I sometimes have women come to me hoping to lose "X pounds". My question is then, -when was the last time you were that weight? -what did you do to get to that weight? -how long were you able to maintain that weight? My questions are 2 fold. They give me a lot of important information, but they also encourage people to reflect on the goals. Is getting back to your high school weight after having 2 kids realistic considering you played on 3 sports teams in high school? Is getting back to a weight you only achieved by starving yourself and over exercising, really a healthful goal. Not everyone wants to hear these things. Sometimes I never hear from women again. But my focus is always going to be on helping women find a healthy & sustainable way of positively impacting their body composition and relationship with food & fitness.
